how to tint headlight

hello,

so my headlights are starting to cloud up. i have tried to claybar and waxed the outside but that doesn't seem to be the problem. i thinking the buildup has to do with inside the light housing.

i have seen some very nice, tinted headlights. i don't want to go the "blacked-out" look but a nice tint on it. most importantly, to get rid of that haze that is building up. i was wondering if tinting the headlight would mask the hazing. i would really like to have it professionally done and the inside cleaned and tinted

any suggestions as which approach to go with and how much am i looking at to get it professionally done?

A search would not have shown anything because majority of people have the common sense not to tint headlights.

But here ya go.

Here is the same driver later that night.

Do a search and buy one of the hundreds of different headlight restore kits or buy new headlights. You dont tint headlights.

i wasn't looking to black it out, but there seem to be some nice-looking mild tint that leaves the headlights just a tad darker. but my intentions wasn't for a tint, mostly to get rid of the hazing

i thank you for your suggestions on headlight restoration kits. that's exactly what i needed. and my apologies for previous

I have the same problems too. Thankfully, I just buff it out with 3m sht and it looks good for about two months. I was considering doing a partial tint since a lot of the stains are on the edges.

This is one of my fav G's but the mothersuker sold it.

I've removed hazing from dozens of lights, it's a simple process, just wetsand w/ 1000 grit, then 1500 grit, then 2000 grit, then use a rubbing compound like Maquairs Ultimate compound on a random orbit buffer, or if you don't have one you can hand polish. Takes about 30 minutes for a set of lights w/ the buffer and add about 15 minutes per light for a hand polish. This will leave them crystal clear.

After you polish them, you can seal them with urethane (there's a diy somewhere) or buy sealant. Urethane is cheaper but involves a little more work. If you don't do this, they will haze over again even more quickly since the UV coating has been removed by polishing.

talk to bluebat on this forums. He must have some tint overlays for your headlights that will give you a smoked look.
