i just found a set of megan racing headers at a great price and was going to purchase them. if anyone has any input on these headers it would be much appreciated. also since i am runnin an HKS exhaust and z-tube k&n drop in am i going to have to worry much about the car running lean. is a flash the next thing i should look into?

thanks

Headers....not yet!

Hey Fresh, so you have an '06 and you intend to get headers....not a great
move at this point. I read your mod list and there's a few things missing
before you go with headers....since you have the revup motor your best bet
is to go with the MotorDyne MREV2 & 5/16" spacer. Guaranteed no less than
18 RWHP, you'll never come close to that with headers. Then to enhance
the MREV2, HFC's should be the next mod which are good for another 10 RWHP. If you're lucky headers will only give you 3 to 5 HP and they're a
PITA to install....not worth the $!

What the MREV2 or HFC....? MREV2 is an intake manifold put out by MotorDyne engineering..... HFC refers to High Flow Cats
which flow 30% better than OEM cats. Available with carb sticker from
Magnaflow exhaust..... These are the only HFC's
that are 50 state legal. (incl Ca.)

im well aware that the mrev2 and spacer make all that power but its about 600 or more bucks whereas i found these headers that are less than 6 months old for 150, im pretty low on cash at the moment but these fit into my budget. once i deal with this speeding ticket and i know how much ima have to pay its mrev2 and spacer time. why would u reccomend doing the mrev2 and spacer first, just power or what?

I would get the headers if they are in good condition.

However, I would wait and install the MREV2, headers, and spacer all at once and then get a tune right after. Definitely will get big noticeable gains.

Okay, cool. Thanks. I still have a lot to learn about this car.

I was planning on getting a plenum spacer and test pipes to hold me over for a few.

Do HFC or TP before you go for headers.
You can feel the most gain out of it.
Otherwise it's not as useful.

And I wouldn't go for Megan because if they crack it would be PITA to get it out.

I would do a little searching on that subject before you jump into it. There is a reason shops charge up to $600 to do the install.

are megan headers known for cracking? as far as installation i know headers are a bitch to install because i worked in a shop and installed headers on a few cars and a few hot rods, but either way the only reason i bought these because i got such a good deal on them, im waiting to install untill i get more mods then i can just flash and get a big noticeable gain, i would do HFC or TP if they werent like 600 bucks.

I'd go with MREV and diy install. Headers might be cheap to buy, but install is a PITA or will set you back 4-6hrs of labor. All in all, you won't see much gain from headers unless all the other breather mods are install and tuned.
