Arrow Dreaded HVAC/RADIO/AC Problems!

So I am having the dreaded HVAC problem with my 03.0 sedan where the AC blows at full tilt and the radio doesn't work.

From the other threads discussing this, everyone seems to say go double din and install a nice nav unit to fix the problem

I talked to someone at the dealer about this who said I just needed a new HVAC/Radio circuit board. Does anyone have a part number for this or know what parts I need to fix the problem without doing an aftermarket double din. I am very happy with the oem bose, and want to fix this as inexpensively as possible. Thanks.

Inexpensively means you post a WTB: in the marketplace, just remember 03 and 04 use slightly different boards.

^This...

Also, if you're happy with the Bose, might I recommend you go in for a hearing acuity test.

Those boards probably are not cheap... and that's IF you can find just the board without the entire HU.

Cheapest fix is try hitting it... sometimes that'll make it start working again... but know that it's on it's way out.

Its toast already.

No one seems to have a definate fix outlined.

From what I have heard its not the unit itself but the control circuit board that has gone bad. Can anyone confirm? Can anyone direct me to a part number or good place to order a replacement board.

^OK then, I'll outline a definite fix:

Step 1: Ditch crap unit
Step 2: Install DD kit
Step 3: Put in something that doesn't break

The board is crap... they go out, that's why it's the "dreaded hvac/radio/ac problem"
Whatever makes them go out, will make a replacement one go out too.
Some of the guys on here have had the thing replaced MULTIPLE times under warranty.

If you get a new board, it will probably go out eventually as well, plus you'll be spending money better spent on actually fixing the problem.

^ Mine has last 120k miles, if I can get another 120k out of the next board, I will be happy.

^Well, alright then... here you go:

There's a very small possibility that this part will do, but you'll have to call first to make sure, personally I doubt they sell just the circuit board

^ This.

Plus, your board may be going today, in a couple months, it may be the power circuit in the headunit. After that? the disc changer. All of these are parts that regularly go bad, and with an '03? you're due to have them all ready have happened.

It may be cheapest to just replace the board with a used one, but that's money thrown away, instead of investing in something that'll last.

If you want to do things right: //setemail.ru/forums/audio-v...urce-list.html
You can do a and get the Metra kit for $99 ($95 for black) from Crutchfield. That's less than a new circuit board already. Yes, you'll have to add a PAC SWI-JACK and PAC ROEM-NIS2, but that'll put you at only about $380 for EVERYTHING, and you'll have aux inputs, iPod control and a unit that isn't past its expiration date.

^Oh yeah. He made a valid point that I forgot to...

I had problems with the HU and it wasn't the board at all, it was the CD changer... so what are you going to do if you change the board and 6 mo down the road the changer unit decides to break?

What's funny is my 06 did this once. That was 2 years ago. But it did the typical hvac stuck and radio only works through steering controls thing. I restarted the car and it was fine,

Just strange as it did it only one time and from what I rear this is mostly an 03 issue

Don't worry, it'll do it again, eventually.

Has yours done it? I have yet to hear of it happening to any other 05/06's.

OP... don't be stubborn and just settle for a new circuit board. Listen from my experience.

I bought the car with the "dreaded" problem. I bought the circuit board and had it installed for $480. DIDN'T fix it. Luckily... the dealership took the part out and didn't charge me a dime for the service. I then purchased a DD kit for $250, a pioneer headunit (DEH-P6000UB) for $200, and did the installing myself. It required an extra harness to adapt for the Bose.. but I also ran the iPod cable to a convenient spot in my center console.. and now I have a headunit that plays iPod, has better sound quality, won't break, and is much easier to use. For the same price as replacing the "circuit board".

Hand down... don't buy a new circuit board and use the stock HU... they're crap. Go aftermarket.
