I wouldn't bother unless you're planning on doing a whole batch of other internal engine mods at the same time... going over the stock redline isn't exactly safe for a mostly stock motor and it won't yield you any gains in terms of performance to just raise the redline.

Hell... I never really get close to redline in my car when I shift it during aggressive driving because the power seems to tail off quite a bit before redline RPMs.

this is what us g35 drivers do. we like being aggressive on our cars even though its bad.

And its not a stock redline. 03-04 only 6500 RPM with stock engine. 05-07 is 7000 RPM redline because it has REV. both same engine so it doesnt hurt for a 03-04 to hit 7k rpm

Same here with headers, intake, exhaust and spacer.

The VQ is so rough up in the higher rpms, why would you want to take it there anyways??? Enjoy the torque down low.

The only valid performance reason that I could think of to going to a higher Redline on our cars is if you are doing autocross or racing it around a small circle track(spectator drag-type racing) and want to stay in 2nd gear the whole time instead of having to shift up to third and back to second, or bouncing off the stock rev limiter for a second or two before coming up to a corner and decelerating. Going up to 7K RPM's would give you about an extra 5 MPH in 2nd gear over stock if that was the intended purpose.

^The only time I go up to or past 7K is at the drag strip, and even then I try not to do it too often.

They are similiar but not the same. The rev-up can reliably sustain a higher RPM then the DE. There are several other improvements as well. I rarely take mine past redline and wouldn't recommend anyone doing so unless they have head-work done.

is there like thing that you can change so the 03-05 can hit 7k RPM redline? i mean their both v6 3.5L so why not?
2005-07 6mt are the only ones with the revup, redline is 7k rpm. 03-04 and 05-07 auto are non revup.

^Weird how people forget that the 05 6MT coupes and sedans are in fact REVUPS.

the main differences on the rev up and non rev up:

Rev up redlines at 7k rpm (298hp-260lbs/ft) Non Rev up redlines 6.5k rpm (280hp-270lbs/ft)

Rev up VVT (Variable Valve Timing) works on both intake and exhaust valves, Non Rev up only works on intake valves

Actually my 05 6mt redlines at 7k rpm but the actual cutoff is at 7400 rpm.

My 04 6mt redlines at 6500 but rev limiter kicks in at 7000 rpms. If i was rev up would it kick in at 7500 like an hr? that would be sweet
