Ticket Quote: 85 in a 65, I-280 in California?

I was doing 85 in a 65 on I280 heading from San Jose to S.F. Can someone give me a quote? I'm over18.

Searching the internet, i've received quotes all over the charts from 250 to 1000 for this.

Searched forums but doesn't seem like I can find this exact speed in California.

Thanks! (I'd just like to plan out my budget for the next week, that's all.)

If it is your first ticket, 75 MPH will probably be about $130. Yes, the fine does go up depending on how many MPH's you were over the limit. I think it's in 5 MPH incriments, but don't quote me on that. Keep in mind, there is a minimum and maximum fine, so it's up to the judge where you fall in the range. I had a gentleman take me to court on 75 MPH. He wound up pleading guilty and just wanted to talk to the judge about reducing the fine. The judge reduced the fine from $130 to $91. I believe the judge said the minimum was $88 or somewhere around there. If you can't pay right then and there, there is a $30 fee to send the fine in later. If you can't afford the fine, you can always do community service such as picking up trash at a park or along side the freeway.

The only time the DA shows up to traffic court is if the defendant has hired an attorney to represent them. Most of the people on the attorney calender are people who hold commercial licenses and it is the company's attorney.

If you qualify, traffic school is your best bet. Its not the fine that gets you, but the insurance companies that bend you over after a ticket. My last ticket was 94 in a 70, that cost me about $280 or so. Then add the $30 or so for traffic school option from the county and another $20 for online traffic school.

About 2 years ago, I got pulled over on 80 in Fairfield for doing 85 in a 65. Officer was cool so he wrote 70 in a 65. That fine was about $150.

Those fines are for people who exceed 100 MPH. The first offense is around $525 and a 30 day suspension. Second offense, or if you have many other speeding violations, i've seen the judge push it over $700.

There are many different speeding sections in the vehicle code and each one of them has different fine amounts. 22350 VC- Exceeding posted speed limit, 22349(a) VC- Exceeding 65 MPH max, 22349(b) VC- Exceeding 55 MPH posted speed limit, 22348(b) VC- Exceeding 100 MPH, 22356(b) VC- Exceeding 70 MPH posted, and 22406(a-f) VC- Exceeding 55 MPH for vehicles limited to 55 MPH (Big rigs, vehicles pulling trailers, school buses, etc). You just have to see which section the officer cited you.

My 90 in a 65 (yes, I know, I decided to act like an idiot after taking 84 to 280 coming down from 35) cost me $225 (or $250, don't remember), on a clean record. You can still traffic school of an 85 in a 65 though so *DO it* or else you're screwed insurance wise. $300 total sounds about right for that sort of ticket.
