help: new tires and abs, slip, vdc off came on

I replaced my rear tires (255/40/19 on 19 inch stock rims) and immediately after (about 3 miles) my abs, slip and vdc off light came on. abs would also kick in when i brake a little bit hard. I tried searching but nothing on people getting it after tire changes. could it be that they messed up some sort of sensor? i tried resetting the ecu. thanks guys!

Don't know about the tires, but I experienced the same thing when my brake fluid was low. I topped it off and the lights disappeared.

Hey guys,

Couple of things. I got into a minor accident and replaced one of my 2 rear tires and rims....so I had a brand new tire and one that needs replacement. I've noticed not even 100km after I got my car back been getting all sorts of light issues. Tonight driving my VDC and slip light went on. my brake light went on but then went off. I'm freaking out. I'm changing rear tires tomorrow to both being matched up to see if that will correct the problem. willl post tomorrow.

In for the response to this. I just ordered my rim/tire set up as well and hoping this wont happen. I was at the shop today and was chatting up with the tech and he said if you dont reuse the same tire pressure sensor that you have on your stock oems, then those lights will come on. I dont know how true that is but apparently it is?

That happened to me the first time I changed out my tires. Are they two different front than rears.. Something todo with the tread sensors or something. It took a while but after about 1000mi of my car driving like a car that felt like it was crashed, it went away. Dealer knew about it...

What size are your front?

With new tires it takes some time for the system to adjust but if you got sizes that were really far off factory size it'll screw things up.

fronts: 235/35/19 (i was going to change these but the tire place said i still have a lot of meat left)
rears: 255/40/19 ( it was 275/30/19s before) (corrected size)

is it because my rear is higher than my front that will trigger the abs/vdc/slip?

You need to keep the rolling diameter of your tires front and rear w/in 3% of each other to keep the VDC happy. Your front tires are 1.5" shorter than your new rears which is almost 6% different. You need to either get taller front tires or shorter rears.

I'm surprised you didn't have issues before as you still had a 4% difference at 1.1". Are you sure the old rears weren't 275/30? Those are exactly the same size as the 235/35 at 25.5" each.

you are right, my old ones were 275/30. they were too thin for my taste so i decided to go thicker.

so getting 235/40/19 in the fronts would pretty much fix this problem? thank you so much!! i should have just gotten the tires instead of listening to the tire shop telling me i didnt need to change them out!

235/40-255/40 combination will give you a .6" difference or 2.2% so you should be good. FYI this is a great site to help answer any size questions. Just look for the "diameter" to make your calculations.

The only issue you might have is finding tires in 235/40. Not many manufacturers offer this size. I thought about going to them in the front but Hankook doesn't offer them. So I run stock coupe sizes 225/40 up front and 245/40 in the rear.

thanks! i have hankook evo v12's in the back and after doing some research it looks like 245/35/19 in the fronts will work even though its 4.65% and hankook offers this size (this is a bit high in % but found it in this threat http://setemail.ru/forums/wheels-...thread-16.html)
or i might get 235/40/19 Pirelli PZero Nero
