kp technologies just came out with a module for burnouts and brake boosting. I beta tested it, and it works perfectly! It is a 4 wire hookup, and it always works...... brake lights work.

It is quite an ingenious little device.

go to and search for "brake boosting"

here's an exerpt from that thread

Here is a quick movie of how the ECU reads the brake switch. Basically, there are two brake switches (1 and 2). 1 is on the left, and is used for Cruise Control and brake lights. 2 is on the right of the screen and is used by the ECU to prevent throttle and braking at the same time. You can see when I push the pedal both of them switch to 'depressed', but about 1 second later the right signal goes back to 'normal'. This movie, admittingly, isn't very impressive and is a somewhat big file, so unless you really want to see how it works I wouldn't waste the time downloading it!

I think I got too excited too soon... do you have a direct link on my350Z?... I did a search and didnít really see anything new. Granted I didn't search a bunch, but I have before and didnít really see anything different this time... also I went to KPTechnologies website and didnít seen anything about this mod.

Is there any specific info on the product and purchasing?... TIA

Mike, it's somewhere in the thread titled "Brake boosting a TT 350z", in the Forced Induction section. Here's a direct link to the thread:

I haven't followed the thread closely, so I can't point you to a specific post.

When pushing the brake and gas down now, is there that typical 5AT bog or does the car leap off the line with no bog? This may be the trick to lowering the 60 foots for the 5AT cars into the 2.0 range.

What exactly is brake boosting? Does this also apply to 6MT's? Or is it just automatics?

only for AT's basically holding the brake and gas at the same time so the tranny is at its stall point upon launch

Actually the brake boosting thread on my350z is about brake boosting turbo; to build boost quickly. It applies to either manual or automatics.

To those that decide to do this mod: I am pretty sure that cutting the brake signal wire right at the switch will disable the ABS function. If you cut it near the ECU, then you are much better off (will not lose ABS). Just beware and remember to switch the connection back on when done burning out...

^ Yep always good to have functional brake lights too . Very bad thing to forget to turn back on (thats why its good to install a switch with a status light like the OP did)!

You're right, I didn't look at that thread, only at this one referring to burnouts. From a stop, or to do a burnout, this mod only applies to ATs. For FI 6mt's brake boosting can be used while moving to hold boost levels.

my understanding is that KP Technologies now has a production module... this is what I am interested in... I'm not really wanting to DIY... I've been waiting for something like this on a production level but I havenít seen anything indicating that they are actually selling it yet... OP, is this still in beta test mode? Or is it avail for sale?

I am of course referring to the VDC/Throttle cutoff defeat mod (whatever you want to call it)... so that a high rpm launch with out cutting power is possible. I have talked with another vendor about creating something like this and incorporating an additional "sweet" feature (that is presently a secret)... but I donít know if/when it will come to fruition... so this might be a good item for me.

Yeah, I only use this when at the track, to do burnouts without having the car move on me. For me, it's hard to forget that the switch is on, because of the bright LED on the switch I used.
